The beginning of a story we are still writing today “The heart and engine of Kováčov”
1969
It all began with the laying of the foundation stone in November 1969. At that time, this location was known as Kováčov (Kovácspatak). It was here that something exceptional was created – the POS International Camp (Pioneer Organisation of the Socialist Youth Union), which quickly became the legendary “heart and engine of Kováčov”. Renowned international pioneer peace camps were held here, bringing life, friendship, and the energy of young people from all over the world to this beautiful corner by the Danube.
The artistic signature of Gustáv Švábik-Macvejda
1975
After six years of dedicated construction, the hotel was completed in 1975. The highlight of its architecture was the artistic finishing, created specifically for the hotel by academic sculptor Gustáv Švábik-Macvejda (born 1943). His work is still present here in its full beauty:
